I bet everyone has drunk Coca-Cola at least once. If not, you must know the brand very well. Coca-Cola is the most famous drink around the world. Is it only a dark fizzy drink or may be something more? What other products can compete with it?

There are some alternatives for Coke. The most popular rival is Pepsi. They both, Pepsi and Coke, have a horrific impact on our health. They contain large amounts of sugar, which can cause various types of diabetes. Sugar causes also teeth decay. If you leave a tooth in a glass of Coke, it is believed it will be dissolved next day. Drinking sweet and fizzy drinks is also one of the reasons why people get fatter and suffer from obesity. UK Parliament Health Committee’s report on obesity says “A standard 330 ml can of Coca-Cola contains 139 calories. Thus, if a person were to consume a can of Coca-Cola and two meals per day, over a week that would result in an energy surplus of nearly 2000 calories – more than a whole day recommended calorie intake for the average woman and about 3/4 of the recommended daily calorie intake for a man.” Without a doubt, drinking such beverages can have a serious impact on our health (Health Committee).

Another alternative for Coke it is German lemonade called Bionade. What makes it different from Coke and Pepsi is a natural way of producing the beverage. It is a healthy and trendy drink. It is produced like beer during fermentation with sweet but without alcohol (Wprost).

Coca-Cola Company has another dark side. It is famous not only for excellent taste but also for breaking human rights(!). There is a trial in American Court against Coca-Cola Company at present. They are accused of cooperating with combatants in Columbia. They also broke human rights in Turkey and India – these are the most famous cases (Coca-Cola wikipedia).

When you take a can of Coke in your hand next time, take into consideration what a mystery is hidden in the drink you consume. It is always Coca-Cola!
